Cumberland Vacation

Molly and I took some time off and went to Lake Cumberland with her family during the end of May. It was great to spend time with the family and see everyone.

I was anticipating this trip because there has been much talk of the lake not being as good because of lower water levels. For those who have not heard the earthen part of the dam is leaking and it needs to be fixed. I guess it is a problem when lakes do not retain water.

All and all it was a great vacation filled with boating, riding wave runners, relaxing, and reading. I would go back to Lake Cumberland and recommend that you go because there was not too many people vacationing there. We really had a large portion of the lake to ourselves for the whole week. It was relaxing and nice.

Silas and Grandpa fishing

The dam

The dam - if you look closely you can see the normal pool level near the spillway gates

Lees Ford Marina - Most of these cars would have been under water a year ago

Lees Ford Marina - Where the land on the left used to be an island, now it is simply a peninsula

Fishers Creek Bridge - near Lees Ford

76 Falls

76 Falls - a main cove for houseboats to park and a place to cliff jump. The water level used to be at the tree line. We took the WaveRunners back and made it only a few feet back till we had to turn around - click on the picture and you can see a tire still stuck in the mud.
